Hon Nick Goiran MLC – Maiden Speech

If Maiden Speeches are in any way indicative of what’s to come, then the newly elected Member for the South Metropolitan Region, the Hon. Nick Goiran won’t be pulling any punches.

Challenging the present Upper House to pass “quality legislation that is just and practical”, Mr Goiran’s criticism was certainly not veiled.  Particular emphasis was given to the problems with the laws relating to compensation for victims of crime and the ongoing injustices that occur due to the inadequacy of the reforms promoted by the former Attorney General.

Alongside words of criticism were also words of praise for the present Government which is “performing admirably well in tough economic conditions.”

Perhaps, most refreshing was Mr Goiran’s stance on fighting against the “ongoing domino effect of dysfunction that threatens our society”.  Fighting for Men’s issues, as well as upholding issues for Women and Children will go a long way to the perpetuation of a safe and optimal environment for our present and future generations.
