Visit to Parkerville Children & Youth Care

Parkerville Children and Youth Care (PCYC) is an organisation that falls within my child protection shadow portfolio area.

I was pleased to have the opportunity to visit PCYC located in the Perth hills where I was given a tour of the grounds which are home to a number of their group foster homes, the Education and Employment Program and the administration staff and case workers.

PCYC protects and cares for the most vulnerable children and youth through out-of-home care. Many of them have suffered chronic histories of multiple abuse and a range of trauma-related behaviour. It was great to be able to see the work of this much needed organisation first hand.
