If we are talking here about a responsible government delivering a responsible budget, which includes amongst other things a very substantial section entitled “Community Safety”, what is the standard that we would expect from a responsible government with regard to the administration of the law for parolees in our state?

Perhaps the question could be this: if a parolee is missing, how many days would a Western Australian expect a responsible government to take before it cancelled the missing parolee’s parole?

Is a W.A. Voice to Parliament on Premier Cook’s agenda?

Protecting the rights of parents and faith-based schools

Article 18(4) of the International Covenant on Civil & Political Rights protects “the liberty of parents… to ensure the religious & moral education of their children”.

You have my commitment to do what I can to protect the rights of parents to have their children educated by people who share their values, and for schools to employ candidates who are the best ‘fit’ for their organisation.

GOVERNMENT SECRECY HAS NO PLACE IN THIS DEBATE

How could all Western Australians make a fully informed decision regarding an issue that we were expected to vote on last October if we were not afforded the same access to information as the Premier?

Western Australia’s “State of Emergency” finally ended after 963 days.

Unfortunately, the Premier’s new Emergency Management Amendment (Temporary COVID-19 Provisions) Act 2022 – which has replaced his “state of emergency” – doesn’t stop emergency declarations. It just means the Police Commissioner has been given the power to activate a State of Emergency at the drop of a hat.

SPECIAL treatment for unionists

The Attorney General’s commendable desire to trial some novel laws against outlaw motorcycle gangs does not justify this latest example of special treatment for unionists.

Modern Slavery Project Regional Workshop

This workshop was an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas about gathering evidence and research, scrutinising anti-trafficking policy, legislation and oversight of the implementation of anti-trafficking laws.

Petition to DEFEND THOSE UNABLE TO SPEAK for themselves

The Coalition for the Defence of Human Life (CDHL) presented me with a petition of 6221 signatures from Western Australians to table when the 2020 session of Parliament commenced on 11 February.

QUIGLEY HAS A DUTY TO QUIBBLE

A Supreme Court Judge’s decision to authorise dangerous sex offender Edward Latimer’s release defies community expectations on public safety.

The Attorney-General should have intervened.
